Where Can I Serve?
All members at WestRidge are encouraged to put their faith into practice. We try to follow the example of Jesus, serving and loving as He served and loved. We believe the Holy Spirit has gifted each member of the Body with unique talents, gifts, and abilities, which have been given to enable him or her to serve others. Listed below are just a few of the many ministries at WestRidge in which you can serve.
Greeting
Greeters fill an important role at WestRidge. They make sure members are greeted warmly and that visitors are made to feel welcome and at home.
Teaching
Bible Class teachers are vital to individual and church growth. Opportunities to lead a class at WestRidge include adult classes, men’s and women’s classes, children’s classes, Children’s Church, and VBS.
Food Preparation
At times of crisis families need comfort and assistance. One way WestRidge offers aid is by food preparation. This includes cooking a meal, food pick-up and delivery, and clean-up after meals are served.
Media and Technology
Using media as an aid to teach the Word is a privilege of WestRidge. The media team runs the powerpoint during each Sunday’s song service and sermon. They also record each Sunday’s sermons and run the sound equipment at each service.
Nursing Home
Each first and third Tuesday evening at 6:30 a group of singers from the congregation encourage the residents of the Randolph County Nursing Home with songs and hymns.
Children’s Church
In order to give our children the best Bible teaching possible, WestRidge holds a children’s church service in conjunction with the main service, immediately after the Lord’s Supper. This special time gives kids more opportunity for interaction and learning in a context and manner that may be better suited to their ages. Children’s Church teaches children God’s Word through a variety of ways, ranging from puppet shows, to games, to object lessons.
Children’s Ministry
This ministry includes not only children’s bible classes and Children’s Church, but also classroom assistants, bulletin board creators, VBS workers, and chaperones, just to name a few.
Youth Ministry
The WestRidge youth ministry’s varied activities necessitate the need for many adult volunteers. The services involved include teachers, chaperones, mentors, bus drivers, and cooks.
Nursery
There is nothing more important than giving a child a solid foundation in God’s word. Nursery workers use puppets, small Bibles, and other aids to teach babies ages 0 – 2 years about God and His world. Nursery workers also attend the nursery during the worship assembly, and maintain the room by seeing that all toys and work stations are washed and sanitized.
Lord’s Supper Preparation
These volunteers see that each Sunday’s Lord’s Supper emblems are prepared for use. They also see that the trays are cleaned and maintained.
Benevolence
WestRidge aids monetarily the Paragould Children’s Homes, Home Away from Home in Little Rock, Arkansas, the Better Life Counseling Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and the ASU Student Center in Jonesboro, Arkansas. In addition, WestRidge maintains a food pantry for families in the community in need.
